Catching Up with Quirigua
OK, I’m going to try to get the last of my pics up today, if I can… starting with Quirigua. It was our third and last Mayan ruins site. It’s tiny compared to Copan or Tikal, but it was still pretty cool. (And hot!) Our Caravan tour stopped there in the middle of our long bus ride from Tikal to Antigua. We were only there about an hour or so, but it was enough time to see the tallest stelae in the Americas. (Apparently, stelae is a fancy word for those big statue-type carved stones.) I don’t remember the exact measurement, but it was over 30 feet tall.
Anyway, here are the pics!
- very few things to climb
- but really tall stuff to look at!
- looks taller next to stacey
- cool carvings
- don't you think?
- says, "please keep our park clean" (just kidding)
