Second “normal” weekend in Antigua
This past weekend was our second “normal” weekend in Antigua… and it was nice. Nice and relaxing. No big time pressures. We spent some time just sitting and watching people in the Central Park (or “Parque Central”). It was great.
- Saturday, Stacey went to a spa for a 90-minute massage...
- pedicure...
- and manicure!
- Sunday morning, the volcano was "out"
- including Fuego (and others)
- we went to a bilingual church
- message, prayers, songs - all in both spanish and english
- we had to stand in the back until the kids left and some chairs opened up
- we made some new friends when we took our Pollo Campero to Central Park
- dinner was at la Fonda de la Calle Real
- but a different location this time (no Bill Clinton chair here!)
- Some kind of dance party was happening in Central Park... but only 6 people were dancing, so we left
- we walk past this cross all the time
- and i accidentally got our shadows
- so we had fun with it
This coming weekend will be our last one here. We were trying to decide if we want to stay here and relax or take another trip somewhere. There’s a black sand beach 2-3 hours away (Monterrico) or some interesting natural pools we could swim in about 5-6 hours away (Coban)… but we decided this morning to just stay here and relax. The next weekend we’ll be heading home, and then Stacey will be back at work, and then Dan & Sheri Martin will be visiting, and then my sabbatical will be ending and Stacey’s Ph. D. work will be beginning. So relaxing and doing nothing this weekend sounds pretty darn good.
